How to Grow Freesias in the Tropics 🌿🌞

Freesias thrive in cool to temperate climates, but with some adjustments, they can be grown in tropical regions.

  • Artificial Chilling: Store bulbs in the refrigerator for 4-6 weeks before planting (keep them in a paper bag, away from moisture).
  • Choose a Cooler Spot: Grow in semi-shade or an area with afternoon shade to protect from extreme heat.
  • Use Pots for Temperature Control: Containers allow better drainage and flexibility to move to cooler areas.
  • Water & Mulch Carefully: Keep soil moist but not soggy and apply mulch to regulate temperature.
  • Time Your Planting: For best results, plant during the coolest months (late autumn to early winter).
