How to Plant:
- Location: Choose a site with full sun to partial shade.
- Soil Preparation: Ensure the soil is light, fluffy, and well-draining to a depth of 20cm.
-
Planting Method:
- Place bulbs with the 'fat' end and roots down, and the neck slightly above soil level.
- Space bulbs 10cm apart for a full display or further apart for a less dense appearance.
- If planting in pots, use high-quality, free-draining potting mix with gravel at the base.
Care Instructions:
- Watering: Water regularly during the growing period; reduce watering as dormancy approaches.
- Fertilising: Annually apply pelletised chicken manure and a balanced bulb fertiliser.
- Temperature: Protect from frost; ideal temperatures range from 15-25°C.
- Naturalisation: Bulbs prefer to remain undisturbed in the ground for multiple years.
- Additional Tips: Avoid overwatering, particularly in pots. Ensure good drainage.
Additional Notes:
- Our Hippeastrum bulbs are true to name and type, supplied as large, flowering-size bulbs with a viable root system intact. They are ready to plant upon receipt, leaving the neck just exposed.
- For those growing Hippeastrum in pots, we recommend using a cacti/succulent mix. When planting in the ground, try mounding the bed slightly to avoid wet feet.
- Hippeastrum SAMBURU does not require yearly lifting and can be left undisturbed for many years. These long-lived bulbs thrive on an annual feeding.
Transform your garden with the vibrant and striking blooms of Hippeastrum SAMBURU!
